Job summary

Becton, Dickinson and Company is seeking a Plant Engineering Manager for the Sumter, SC site to lead the engineering organization and drive SQDC performance. You will deploy BD Excellence, build high-performing teams, and guide multi-year engineering strategy aligned to the site master plan.

Responsibilities include leading continuous improvement, asset care, and capital projects, while collaborating with manufacturing, quality, supply chain and EHS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related).
• 7–10+ years of engineering/manufacturing experience.
• 3–5+ years leadership experience managing managers or technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of: Lean / Continuous Improvement; Reliability / Asset Care systems; Manufacturing processes.
• Preferred: Six Sigma certification.
• Experience with BD Excellence or similar Lean operating system.

Responsibilities

• Strategy Deployment: Lead input into Strategy Deployment and site master plan; cascade KPIs to SQDC across engineering teams.
• Zero Loss & Continuous Improvement: Champion Zero Loss projects; lead elimination of losses via root-cause problem solving and Kaizen.
• Collaborates with Assess Manager on Asset Care; ensure high equipment uptime and reliable preventive/predictive maintenance.
• BD Excellence Integration: Deploy Factory Blueprint standards; lead engineering participation in Kaizen events and improvement teams.
• People & Capability Development: Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization; develop talent and succession planning.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS; support NPI and capital projects.
• Governance, Compliance & Standards: Adhere to BD Quality Systems; establish standard work and governance; drive continuous improvement.
