POET in Groton, SD is seeking a Plant Engineering Intern to work closely with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager on optimizing plant operations and run time. The role includes troubleshooting, data analysis, and supporting predictive and preventive maintenance programs.

The internship requires a high school diploma or equivalent and enrollment as a junior or senior in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering.

Qualifications

• Must be a junior or senior-level student enrolled full-time at an accredited 4-year college/university pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills; ability to adapt to change.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maximizing efficiencies of plant operations and run time.
• Collaborate with Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager on operation issues and maintenance programs.
• Develop and support predictive and preventative maintenance initiatives.
• Work with maintenance and external vendors on ongoing maintenance improvements.
• Support development of plant operating procedures and data analysis tasks.
