Job summary

POET is seeking a Plant Engineering Intern to work closely with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager in Caro, MI. The role focuses on maximizing production efficiency, troubleshooting, and developing predictive and preventative maintenance programs on-site.

Responsibilities include project work across maintenance, process optimization, data analysis, and environmental compliance, with an emphasis on safety and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering at a 4-year college/university.
• Able to work a variety of shifts, minimum 40 hours per week.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills; able to adapt to change.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs.
• Bonus: familiarity or experience with DCS control and DCS historian systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to maximize plant efficiency and run time.
• Develop predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
• Contribute to projects related to plant operations: efficiencies, maintenance, process optimization, operations, data analysis, location research, environmental compliance.
• Collaborate with maintenance and external vendors to advance preventive maintenance programs.
• Determine applicable equipment, tools, and inspection frequencies.
• Help strengthen operating procedures and maintain confidentiality; promote safe, compliant operations.
• Represent POET in the community and support a culture of teamwork and quality.
