Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an Electrician to join our maintenance team at a fast-paced pork processing plant. You will maintain electrical systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safe, efficient operation to keep production running smoothly.

We value hands-on skills, PLC experience, and the ability to read schematics. Eligible candidates may receive relocation support and a competitive starting hourly rate with shift differential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2+ years related experience.
• PLC experience highly desired.
• Must be able to read and write fluently in English for manuals and training.
• Ability to work in a team and with contractors.

Responsibilities

• Electrical System Maintenance: install, repair, and maintain motors, control panels, lighting, wiring, and power distribution.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs: diagnose and repair plant electrical issues to minimize downtime.
• Safety & Compliance: follow safety protocols and electrical codes (OSHA/NEC).
• Collaboration & Communication: work with maintenance and plant teams; document repairs.
• General Plant Support: assist emergencies and upgrade electrical equipment.
