Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an Electrician for our maintenance team at a high-volume pork processing plant in Tar Heel, NC. You will ensure safe and efficient operation of electrical systems, perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on motors, control panels, lighting, and power distribution to keep production running smoothly.

Requirements include an Associate’s degree and 2+ years of related experience, with PLC experience highly desired.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
• PLC experience highly desired.
• Must be able to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical/ training manuals written in English.

Responsibilities

• Electrical System Maintenance: Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems like motors, control panels, lighting, wiring, and power distribution for dependable plant operation.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and repair electrical issues to minimize downtime and keep production flowing, including complex systems.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols (OSHA, NEC) and lead safety checks to ensure electrical systems meet plant safety standards.
• Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate with maintenance and plant teams to prioritize tasks and document work.
• General Plant Support: Assist during emergencies, install new equipment and electrical upgrades to improve efficiency.
