Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Wilson, NC is hiring an Electrician to join our maintenance team at a fast-paced pork processing plant. You will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operation of electrical systems, motors, controls, lighting, wiring, and power distribution, performing maintenance and repairs to keep production running.

The role requires an Associate degree or equivalent with 2+ years experience, PLC knowledge, and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• PLC experience highly desired.
• Must be able to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical manuals.
• Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact with all levels of personnel.
• Forklift operation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Electrical System Maintenance: Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems like motors, control panels, lighting, wiring, and power distribution; perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and repair electrical issues to minimize downtime and keep production flowing.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols and comply with electrical codes (OSHA, NEC).
• Collaboration & Communication: Work with maintenance and plant teams; coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor and keep records.
• General Plant Support: Help install new equipment and electrical upgrades; assist during emergencies and shutdowns.
