Job summary

Smithfield is hiring an Electrician to join our maintenance team at a fast-paced pork processing plant. You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems, troubleshoot issues, and perform preventative maintenance to keep production moving.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining motors, control panels, lighting, and power distribution, with a focus on safety and compliance under OSHA/NEC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2+ years related experience, required.
• PLC experience highly desired.
• Must be able to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical/training manuals written in English.
• Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift preferred.

Responsibilities

• Electrical System Maintenance: Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems like motors, control panels, lighting, wiring, and power distribution.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and repair electrical issues to minimize downtime and keep production running.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with electrical codes (OSHA, NEC).
• Collaboration & Communication: Work with maintenance and plant teams and document maintenance activities.
