Job summary

The Neil Jones Food Company in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Plant Electrician to plan and execute electrical installations for our Northwest Packing plant. You will troubleshoot motors, PLCs, MCC panels and gear boxes to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation.

Requires a high school diploma with at least 3 years of industrial electrical experience; Washington State Journeyman Electrician license preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 3+ years industrial electrical experience preferred.
• Washington State Journeyman Electrician license is preferred but not required.
• Experience reading wiring diagrams and PLC troubleshooting is essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sketches and follow diagrams for wiring locations and future wall/ceiling work.
• Install electrical conduit, measurement, bending, threading, and mounting.
• Install control and distribution equipment including switches, relays, and panels.
• Connect power cables to equipment and install grounding leads.
• Test circuit continuity and safety with appropriate instruments.

Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a Plant Electrician to plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting instrumentation, electrical motors, PLC, MCC panels, and gear boxes at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
• Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
• Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
• Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.

Requirements:

• High school education or equivalent and at least 3 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience. Journeyman Electrician Washington State License A+ preferred.
• Ability to diagnose and repair production equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment up to 480V.
• Ability to read and understand wiring schematics (ladder logic), perform PLC troubleshooting, and PLC programming.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and to work extended schedule, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.
