Job summary

Mondi Group in Pennsylvania seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to troubleshoot and improve electrical and control systems in our production environment. You will program PLCs, work with HMIs, drives, sensors, and control networks to boost reliability, safety, and efficiency.

The role collaborates with Maintenance and Operations, leads capital projects, and ensures compliance with OSHA NFPA 70E and NEC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • 3+ years in electrical engineering, controls, or industrial automation in manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial machinery, power distribution, motors, drives, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics; AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, project management, communication, and cross-functional skills.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and access elevated areas; ADA accommodations available.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and controls issues affecting production machinery and building systems.
  • Provide technical support during equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, sensors, and industrial networks.
  • Design and improve electrical and control systems to increase reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Support plant power distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, panels, and motors.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specs, backups, and docs.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations on preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Lead or support capital projects from scoping to installation, commissioning, training, and closeout.
  • Coordinate contractors, integrators, and suppliers during installs and upgrades.
  • Ensure electrical work complies with company requirements and safety standards.
  • Analyze downtime and performance data to prioritize reliability improvements.
  • Provide coaching and training on electrical systems and safe practices.

Job description

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and controls issues affecting production machinery and building systems
  • Provide technical support during equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives, servo systems, sensors, and industrial control networks
  • Design and improve electrical and control systems that increase equipment reliability, process capability, safety, and efficiency
  • Support plant power distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, panels, motors, and related systems
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, backups, and other technical documentation
  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations to develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for critical electrical assets
  • Lead or support capital projects from scoping and specification through installation, commissioning, training, and closeout
  • Coordinate contractors, integrators, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders during electrical installations and upgrades
  • Ensure electrical work complies with company requirements and applicable OSHA, NFPA 70E, National Electrical Code, and lockout/tagout practices
  • Analyze downtime and equipment performance data to prioritize reliability and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Provide technical coaching and training to maintenance technicians and production employees on electrical systems and safe work practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline required
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering, controls, or industrial automation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial machinery, electrical power distribution, motors, drives, and control systems
  • Knowledge of industrial safety requirements, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, National Electrical Code, and lockout/tagout
  • Ability to read, create, and revise electrical schematics and technical drawings; AutoCAD Electrical or similar software experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, project management, communication, and cross-functional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, access equipment and elevated areas, and respond to urgent equipment issues as needed; reasonable accommodations available under the ADA
