About the Role

Our client, a leading food & beverage manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Plant Director to lead and manage all aspects of their production facility. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, driving operational excellence, ensuring product quality and food safety, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic leadership, lean manufacturing expertise, and a strong understanding of food processing regulations and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for all plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, safety, and logistics.
  • Develop and execute plant performance goals aligned with company objectives in safety, quality, service, and cost.
  • Champion a culture of safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, OSHA, SQF, etc.).
  • Lead initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, throughput, and cost control through lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with corporate leadership, R&D, supply chain, and HR to support operational initiatives and new product launches.
  • Manage and develop leadership teams, fostering talent growth and succession planning.
  • Oversee capital projects, plant expansions, and equipment installations or upgrades.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), making data-driven decisions to improve plant performance.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and quality assurance systems in partnership with QA leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Business, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in food & beverage or CPG manufacturing, including 5+ years in a plant or operations leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading a plant with full P&L responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF/BRC, and other food safety certifications.
  • Demonstrated success in driving lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
