Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking an experienced accounting leader to support the production facility with cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and reporting.

You will supervise the plant’s accounting team, ensure GAAP/SOX compliance, and drive performance analysis and process improvements. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 5+ years of accounting experience and strong Excel/SAP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; 5+ years of professional accounting experience
• 2+ years of team management or project leadership
• Knowledge of accounting software, inventory systems, manufacturing software, and MS Office including Pivot Tables
• Solid understanding of cost accounting concepts; SAP experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented and collaborative

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting support to the production facility including cost accounting, inventory control, accounts payable, payroll and reporting
• Supervise maintenance of manufacturing, inventory, and finished goods ledgers and cost accounting activities
• Prepare operating performance reports and analyze unusual items on financial reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX; audit payroll distribution and GL accounts
• Oversee payroll preparation and related labor reporting; manage shipping and material inventory accounting
