Job summary

Smithfield Packaged Meats Corp in the United States is seeking a Plant Controller to direct accounting support for the production facility, overseeing cost accounting, inventory control, payroll, accounts payable and billing. You will ensure GAAP and SOX compliance, prepare financial reports, lead a small accounting team, and partner with operations to optimize inventory and manufacturing processes.

This role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting and 3+ years in accounting, with SAP experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and 3 years of professional accounting experience.
• Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching, or mentoring to staff or managing a process or project.
• Knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance; strong cost accounting concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and analytical tools.
• SAP experience preferred; strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct cost accounting, inventory control, accounts payable, payroll, billing, and preparation of plant financial reports.
• Maintain manufacturing, inventory and finished goods ledgers; manage cost accounting activities.
• Ensure SOX compliance and audit readiness; reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
• Provide leadership and coaching to Accounting Department staff; collaborate with other departments.
• Prepare quarterly review materials and support operations improvement initiatives.
