Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an experienced accounting leader at our Denison plant to manage cost accounting, inventory control, payroll, and financial reporting. You will supervise the plant accounting team and ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX while partnering with operations to improve cost efficiency.

The role requires strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables), SAP experience, and the ability to lead and develop staff in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and 5+ years of professional accounting experience.
• 2+ years of team management or project leadership experience.
• Knowledge of accounting software, inventory software, manufacturing software, and Microsoft Excel with Pivot Tables.
• Solid understanding of cost accounting concepts and GAAP.
• SAP experience preferred; strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cost accounting, inventory control, accounts payable, payroll, billing, and plant reporting.
• Supervise plant ledgers, cost accounting activities and SOX/compliance.
• Prepare and analyze operating performance reports and unusual item analyses.
• Lead payroll administration and labor reporting; manage shipping and inventory accounting.
• Collaborate with plant management to drive cost improvements and efficiency.
