Job summary

Teledyne FLIR is seeking a Controller to oversee general ledger, cost accounting, and financial planning for Bozeman, MT and Freeport, PA sites. The role partners with site leaders and provides actionable financial insights in a hands-on, multi-site manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include month/quarter/year-end closes, standard costing, budgeting, forecasting, and working with operations to support business decisions. Strong Excel and ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 8–10+ years of accounting/finance experience, preferably cost accounting in manufacturing.
• Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting (including physical inventory and E&O), and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Experience partnering with operations or site leadership to support business decisions.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP system.
• Advanced Excel skills with pivot tables and lookups.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including cost center reviews, journal entries, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Analyze overhead, inventory, and other financial data to support operational and business decisions.
• Lead budget preparation and forecasting for assigned sites, including revenue, margins, and cost centers.
• Prepare standard costing labor and overhead rates; maintain and update standard costs as needed.
• Prepare analytical reports and deliver financial insights to Site Leads.
• Coordinate weekly forecast updates and approve POs with G/L coding.
• Monitor inventory, including E&O reserves and physical inventory activities.
• Assist with fixed asset audits and related documentation.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Materials, and Operations to resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare responses for corporate/government surveys and coordinate with other sites.

Job Summary:

This role supports the Bozeman, MT and Freeport, PA sites and reports to the Vice President, Finance for the Surveillance Division. The Controller is a key business partner to site leadership, providing financial insights that drive operational and business decisions. The role requires a self‑starter who can work independently and manage general ledger and cost accounting responsibilities for the assigned sites. The Controller will partner closely with the local General Managers and provide financial support to teams in Bozeman and Freeport. This is a hands‑on, highly visible role within a multi‑site manufacturing environment. This role collaborates closely with Teledyne Photon Machines while operating within established reporting and accounting structures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities, including cost center reviews, journal entries, and manufacturing variance analysis
• Analyze overhead, inventory, and other financial data to support operational and business decisions
• Lead budget preparation and partner with site leadership on forecasting and financial planning for assigned sites, including revenue, margin, and cost centers
• Prepare standard costing labor and overhead rates; maintain, update, and roll standard costs as needed
• Prepare analytical reports and deliver financial insights to Site Leads
• Assign general ledger (G/L) coding and review and approve purchase orders
• Prepare and maintain weekly forecast updates
• Monitor and analyze inventory, including Excess and Obsolete (E&O) reserves and physical inventory activities
• Assist with fixed asset audits and related documentation
• Partner with Accounts Payable, Materials, and Operations teams to resolve discrepancies and variances
• Prepare and coordinate responses for corporate and government surveys; collaborate with other Surveillance sites to avoid duplication
• Perform other duties as required in support of site and divisional financial objectives

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 8 - 10 + years of Accounting or Finance experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
• Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting (including physical inventory and E&O), and manufacturing variance analysis
• Experience partnering with operations or site leadership to support business decisions
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP system preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross‑functional teams
