Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closes; ensure deadlines and quality.
  • Maintain internal controls to protect assets and ensure integrity.
  • Oversee GL, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets; support accurate reporting.
  • Oversee inventory costing, pricing, and inventory management; improve visibility.
  • Establish and enforce accounting policies and best practices.
  • Lead and develop the accounting team and cross‑functional partnerships.

Job Description

This is a leadership role at the center of the organization’s financial operations and future growth. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Controller will lead the day‑to‑day accounting function while helping shape financial strategy, strengthen processes, and build a high‑performing finance team. This role requires a hands‑on leader who can balance accuracy and compliance with forward‑thinking insight, turning financial data into meaningful guidance for business decisions. The ideal candidate brings manufacturing experience, a passion for developing people, and a track record of improving systems, processes, and financial visibility to help organizations scale and succeed.

What You'll Do...

Financial Reporting and Compliance

  • Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements across all operating regions.
  • Own and manage the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.

Accounting Operations

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Ensure accounting systems and processes operate effectively and support accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee inventory costing, product pricing, and inventory management processes, partnering with operations and leadership to improve visibility and decision‑making.
  • Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, setting clear expectations and supporting professional growth.
  • Build a high‑performance, accountable, and collaborative finance team culture.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with operations, sales, and leadership to support company objectives and improve financial understanding across the organization.
  • Serve as a proactive leader who identifies issues, drives solutions, and helps the business scale effectively.

Audit and External Relationships

  • Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, ensuring accuracy, organization, and timely completion.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and CPA firms and coordinate all audit activities.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, state, federal, and international tax regulations.

Process Improvement and Systems Leadership

  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting processes.
  • Champion continuous improvement and implement best practices across finance operations.
  • Oversee financial systems and ERP platforms, including enhancements, upgrades, and new technology implementation.
  • Recommend and implement tools and systems that improve financial visibility and operational performance.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Partner with the VP of Finance to develop the annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget, analyze variances, and provide clear, actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Support strategic planning through financial modeling and operational analysis.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field with a minimum (10) years of progressive accounting experience required, with the majority within a manufacturing environment preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role required.
  • Experienceleading teamsand improving financial processes and systems.

Annual Target Salary = $180k plus bonus
