Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc is seeking a Plant Electrical and Controls Engineer to design, install, maintain, and improve plant control systems and diagnose electrical issues impacting operations.

The role covers PLC/DCS/HMI automation, instrumentation integration, and document control, with a base salary of $80,000–$90,000 per year. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electrical/controls engineering and strong safety knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field with 3-5 years of experience in electrical/controls engineering in manufacturing.
• High School Diploma with 5-7 years of experience in electrical/controls engineering in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose, and resolve issues related to plant PLC, DCS, and HMI based automation systems.
• Support integration of instrumentation systems including sensors, transmitters, flow meters, and analyzers.
• Maintain and update electrical and controls documentation including P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control narratives.
• Identify and implement automation and controls improvements to enhance process efficiency, product quality, and safety.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues impacting plant operations and coordinate with maintenance technicians to minimize downtime.
• Perform electrical load analysis, short circuit studies, and arc flash assessments to ensure safety and compliance.
• Manage electrical preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and other electrical standards.
• Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians and operators on electrical and controls systems.
• Support 24/7 operations by providing on-call technical assistance for critical issues.
