Job summary

C&D Technologies is seeking a Controls Engineer in a hands-on manufacturing setting to own PLC programming and troubleshooting, collaborate with process engineers, and deliver automated control solutions. The role emphasizes safety compliance and effective project execution.

Responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, and documenting electrical systems, while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to meet schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Allen Bradley RSLogix 500 and 5000, Factory Talk View Studio and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of safety systems.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design for automated industrial designs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles and presentation to customers.
  • Ensure all safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
  • Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.
  • Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements.
  • Create accurate Bills of Materials.
  • Define equipment and parts from external suppliers.
  • Oversee project workflow and support resources to ensure timely delivery within budget.
  • Electrical and software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures including pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, networks, touchscreens, and PLCs.
  • Create documentation such as user manuals, diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Maintain records per quality standards.
  • Modify process instructions following document control.
  • Apply process improvements under NSP, ECR, ECN.

Controls Engineer Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION: Controls Engineer supports the overall manufacturing process through the ownership of PLC-related programming, troubleshooting, and support of PLC ladder logic. The Controls Engineer is also responsible for working with other Process Engineers on projects in a variety of areas around the plant.

Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles and involvement in presentation of the solution to customer.
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
  • Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.
  • Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements.
  • Create accurate Bill of Materials.
  • Define equipment and parts from external suppliers.
  • Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget.
  • Electrical, software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures that may include pneumatics, servos, vfd’s, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons and PLCs.
  • Create documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standard.
  • Modify/create process instructions around the plant following the document control process.
  • Apply process improvements following the NSP, ECR and ECN systems.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Job
Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar related degree).
  • 2-5 years related job experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Allen Bradley RSLogix 500 and 5000, Factory Talk View Studio and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of safety systems.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems.
  • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments.
  • Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects. Job Type: Full-time
Pay

$90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
