Job summary

Tucson Electric Power in Tucson, AZ, is seeking a Student Intern to join its accounting department. This role offers hands-on exposure to month-end close activities, journal entries, and financial reporting processes within a corporate environment.

You will work with Oracle, PowerPlan, and Excel, supporting variance analysis and data extraction while developing communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills for a future career in accounting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours) at an accredited university.
• Must have completed at least 60 credit hours toward a major in Accounting
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
• Must be available to work a minimum of 15 and up to 20 hours per week during the academic year, with availability during regular business hours.
• During summer break must be available to work a minimum of 30 and up to 40 hours per week.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline with graduation date no earlier than May 2028
• Must maintain full-time student status and good academic standing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Prepare financial schedules and reports for internal stakeholders
• Support variance analysis
• Utilize Oracle, PowerPlan, and Excel to extract, analyze, and present financial data
• Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions
• Contribute to special projects and ad hoc requests
