Job summary

The City of Nampa Human Resources is seeking a Plans Examiner II to review residential and commercial construction plans for code compliance in the Building Department. The role involves coordinating with the Building Official, Planning, Engineering and Fire Prevention teams to ensure safe, compliant structures.

This full-time position requires strong code interpretation, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and mentoring of junior staff while staying current on industry developments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Plans Examiner or equivalent.
• ICC residential and commercial plans examiner certifications.

Responsibilities

• Review residential and commercial plans for code compliance.
• Coordinate plan review with Building, Planning, Engineering, and Fire Prevention.
• Consult with architects, engineers, and the public on code interpretation.
• Maintain records of customer service issues and take corrective action.
• Mentor junior staff and stay current on codes and practices.
