Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or higher in architecture, construction technology, trades, drafting, construction management, or related field preferred.
• Five years of related experience; education may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Examines plans and specifications for compliance with adopted construction codes.
• Reviews building plans and assists inspectors with difficult code issues.
• Prepares and maintains records of plan checking activities.
• Interprets adopted construction codes as applicable.
• Inspects buildings under construction for code compliance.
• Communicates effectively with city staff and stakeholders to resolve issues.
