Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning or related field or equivalent education/experience.
• Three years of progressively responsible municipal or regional planning experience.
• AICP Certification required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
• Oklahoma Driver's License or ability to obtain and maintain driving record.

The City of Guthrie is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Planning Director to lead the City's planning and development efforts. This position oversees long-range and comprehensive planning, zoning and development review, community engagement, grant administration, historic preservation, and economic development initiatives.

The Planning Director works closely with residents, property owners, developers, City staff, boards and commissions, and elected officials to guide responsible growth while preserving Guthrie's unique historic character and quality of life. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, organized problem-solver, and knowledgeable planning professional with the ability to manage multiple priorities and build positive relationships throughout the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning, landscape architecture, urban geography, urban studies, environmental science, public administration, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible, full-time experience in municipal or regional planning, or a related field.
• AICP Certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software is required.
• Employee must have or be able to obtain an Oklahoma Driver's License and maintain a satisfactory driving record throughout his employment with the City of Guthrie.
