Pike County Planning and Mapping is accepting applications for the position of Mapping Technician.

Mapping Technician

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The purpose of this position is to maintain and manage property records for the County to ensure the current owner’s information is up to date.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

• Process property address changes.
• Process subdivision information to create or combine tax lots as needed.
• Process property transfer information.
• Performs systems maintenance, quality control, and periodic updates to maintain property owner database.
• Assists the public with property and other related issues; resolves problems and answers questions in person and on the phone regarding properties and/or other mapping related inquiries.
• Provides assistance with the implementation of the office’s technical mapping to municipalities as needed.
• Update and maintain County tax parcel viewer as needed.
• Daily process of deeds and certifications including tax stamp verification
• Monitor rejected deeds for corrections/submittals
• Process checks from transfers, maps, data & property cards, make deposits, and reconcile bank statement and Mapping Checkbook
• Create monthly transfer sheets and disseminate them to list of subscribers
• Prepare required forms to be sent to the County mapping consultant and VISION when required.
• Work closely with County & Municipal staff to resolve mapping issues.
• Uses personal computer, word processing and spreadsheet software applications to perform various data entry tasks.
• Attend training as required.

Minimum Qualification, Training & Experience

A working knowledge and experience with all aspects of property deeds and the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will be strongly preferred for carrying out the tasks related to this position. Strong knowledge of deeds and property records and procedures for owning and transferring property. Must possess and maintain a valid State issued driver’s license.
