Job summary

Waldemar S. Nelson seeks a Senior Scheduler to lead and maintain engineering, procurement, and construction schedules for industrial EP/EPC projects in the New Orleans area.

You will utilize Primavera P6 or MS Project, support proposal stages, run workshops with stakeholders, and deliver schedule reports. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Experience in EP/EPC environments, Earned Value concepts, and cost control will help drive on‑time project delivery.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• 5–10 years of planning, scheduling, and cost control for industrial projects.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Project; importing/exporting Excel and MS Project.
• Experience in EP/EPC environments.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management and cost control practices.
• Familiarity with AACEI practices and Levels of Schedule.
• Experience with SharePoint, MS Office, MS Teams; advanced Primavera P6 user.
• Professionalism and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain schedules for industrial EP/EPC projects using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Support schedule development during proposals, pre-feasibility, feasibility, detailed engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
• Lead schedule development workshops and reviews with stakeholders and client representatives.
• Prepare and issue schedule-related reports per project execution plans and controls procedures.
• Develop, monitor, and update project schedules for one or more projects.
• Identify schedule risks, variances, and critical path impacts; recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate on improving scheduling procedures and best practices.
• Lead integration of engineering and procurement schedules with external construction interfaces.
• Assist in development of project cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cost control reporting.
• Support project managers with budget monitoring and cost tracking.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain engineering, design, procurement, and construction schedules using Primavera P6 (preferred) or Microsoft Project for industrial projects within an EP/EPC environment.

• Support schedule development during proposal preparation, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, detailed engineering, procurement, and construction phases.

• Lead schedule development workshops and schedule review meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including Project Managers, Engineering and Design Leads, Procurement, Project Controls, Document Control, construction contractors, and client representatives.

• Prepare and issue schedule-related reports in accordance with project execution plans, client requirements, and project controls procedures.

• Develop, monitor, analyze, and update project schedules for one or more projects concurrently, ensuring alignment with project objectives and milestones.

• Identify schedule risks, variances, and critical path impacts, and recommend corrective actions to support successful project execution.

• Collaborate in development and continuous improvement of scheduling procedures, and best practices.

• Lead engineering and procurement schedule integration activities and coordinate interfaces with external construction contractors.

• Assist in the development of project cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and cost control reporting.

• Support project managers with budget monitoring, cost tracking, performance measurement, and project reporting activities.

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management from an ABET accredited university and demonstrated experience in project planning and scheduling skills (schedule development, management and reporting).

• Five (5) to ten (10) years of demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling, and cost control for industrial engineering and construction projects.

• Proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, including importing and exporting Excel and MS Project into and out of Primavera P6.

• Experience working in EP/EPC project environments.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

• Working knowledge of project cost management, forecasting, and reporting methodologies.

• Industry certifications in scheduling such as PSP, PMI-SP, and EVM are preferred, but not required.

• An understanding of Advanced Work Packaging project delivery methodology and the interaction between engineering disciplines, procurement and construction.

• An understanding of AACEI Recommended Practices and Levels of Schedule.

• Knowledge in the principles and practices of international industrial project procurement and engineering.

• Proven experience with SharePoint, MS Office, MS Teams, and be an advanced Primavera P6 user.

• Demonstrated ability to work with designers, engineers, and contractors of all experience levels regarding project schedules, progress and cost.

• A high degree of professionalism and be detail oriented.

• Be well versed in Earned Value Management and Rules of Credit.

• Have a good understanding of management of change in the design engineering environment.
