ReNuke Services is seeking a Substation/Line/Relay Planner III for our client's site in Asheville, NC!
Transportation: Candidates must have their own reliable transportation daily. This position will frequently travel to sites. Mileage (up to 300 miles a week) from the assigned office to sites is reimbursable. Daily travel can be up to an hour away, with occasional overnight travel for meetings. Expenses for overnight travel are reimbursable.
Schedule: The team works 4-10 hour days. The candidate is expected to be onsite/in the field as needed, which is anywhere from 2-4 days a week. There is some flexibility for occasional remote work.
Key Requirements: Candidates must have field experience with both substation and line knowledge. Relay knowledge is also preferred.
This position reports to the Supervisor of Aera Coordination and supports the Transmission field personnel responsible for construction and maintenance activities for substation assets. The Planner prepares work packages for construction and maintenance, reviews equipment history, and identifies special requirements for work completion. The role involves identifying concurrent work opportunities for resource efficiency, monitoring work progress, and raising issues to improve efficiency. The Planner may also handle NERC documentation and collaborates with construction and project management teams to plan, estimate, and allocate resources for projects, supporting an annual program budget of $150M - $300M.
The Planner develops comprehensive work packages, including scope, hours, skill sets, procedures, tools, permits, durations, sketches, vendor info, safety/environmental info, PPE needs, and material logistics. They identify critical work activities, coordinate with various work groups, and participate in project planning meetings to develop project scopes and resource allocations. The role involves coordinating transmission clearances, resolving load issues, and ensuring documentation accuracy. The Planner also supports emergency planning, clearance requests, and site walk-downs to ensure readiness and compliance.
