Job summary

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day transportation needs of multiple customers in various regions.
• Consolidate shipments into multi-stop loads to reduce freight costs.
• Create optimized transportation schedules for LTL & TL shipments utilizing TMS.
• Track & trace shipments daily and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
• Communicate updates and load issues to customers.
• Obtain and negotiate rate quotes with customers.
• Manage carrier linehaul and accessorial costs.
• Track carrier performance, including on-time service and claims.
• Continually look at processes and opportunities for improvements.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relations.

Planner/Dispatcher

Full Time Suffolk, VA, US

Salary Range: $50,000.00 To $60,000.00 Annually

Main Functions: Logistics/Planner

Dispatching

Duties:

• Manage the day-to-day transportation needs of multiple customers in various regions
• Consolidate shipments into multi-stop loads to reduce freight costs
• Create optimized transportation schedules for LTL 7 TL shipments utilizing Transportation Management Software
• Track & trace shipments daily, trouble shoot problems with shipments as the arise
• Communicate updates and/or any load issues to customers
• Obtain and negotiate rate quotes with customers
• Manage carrier linehaul and accessorial cost
• Track carrier performance, including on-time service, claims and acceptance ratios
• Continually look at process’s and opportunities for improvements
• Develop and maintain strong customer relations
• Strong and effective team member

Working Conditions:

• Monday to Friday (after hours/weekend/holiday work may be required)
• Fast paced atmosphere sometimes requiring independent decisions
