Job summary

TORKLAW in Chicago, IL is seeking a pre-litigation attorney to own personal injury cases from intake through settlement, with a base pay of $150K+ DOE. This hands-on, high-accountability role requires ownership, strategic thinking, and excellent client service in a collaborative team.

You will conduct liability investigations, analyze medical records, negotiate with insurers, and lead case strategy while mentoring under high-level mentorship.

Qualifications

• Active attorney in good standing.
• 5+ years of plaintiff personal injury experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of Illinois personal injury law and procedures.
• Experience managing a significant personal injury caseload.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

PAY: $150K + DOE

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

The Case

You’ll take ownership of personal injury cases from intake through settlement, developing the strategy and driving the case forward.

You’ll:

• Conduct strategic investigations into liability, damages, and case value
• Analyze medical records, evidence, and other case-related documentation
• Develop case strategy and identify opportunities to maximize value
• Draft and review demand packages and other legal documents
• Negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing counsel
• Evaluate settlement offers and make strategic recommendations
• Maintain a strong understanding of the legal and factual issues affecting each case

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an attorney who combines strong legal judgment with exceptional communication, organization, and client-service skills.

You’ll likely thrive here if you:

• Are an active attorney in good standing
• Have 5+ years of plaintiff personal injury experience preferred
• Have a strong understanding of Illinois personal injury law and procedures
• Have experience managing a significant personal injury caseload
• Are a strong negotiator who knows how to evaluate risk, leverage, and case value
• Communicate confidently and empathetically with clients
• Are highly organized and detail-oriented
• Take ownership of your cases and follow through
• Can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
• Are comfortable making strategic decisions and advocating for your clients
• Care about both the outcome of the case and the experience of the person behind it

• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required.

This is a hands-on, high-accountability role.

You’ll have autonomy, but you’ll also be expected to own your results.

You’ll need to be comfortable managing multiple priorities, making decisions, communicating with clients, and pushing cases forward without waiting for someone else to tell you what to do.

Compensation: $150K + annually, based on experience
