Job summary

Express Recruiting Group is partnering with a Santa Monica-based plaintiff-side employment law firm to recruit an Employment Litigation Attorney. The ideal candidate will handle a full spectrum of employment matters, from pre-litigation to trial, including depositions, discovery, and court appearances in California Superior Courts and arbitrations (AAA/JAMS).

California FEHA, PAGA, and Labor Code knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of employment litigation experience.
• Plaintiff-side employment litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience conducting and defending depositions.
• Courtroom appearance and litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of California employment laws, including FEHA, PAGA, and the California Labor Code.
• Ability to manage multiple litigation matters and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
• Active California State Bar membership in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Manage an active caseload of employment litigation matters from pre-litigation through trial.
• Conduct and defend depositions with minimal supervision.
• Draft, review, and respond to discovery requests, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Appear in California Superior Courts and arbitration proceedings, including AAA and JAMS matters.
• Advise clients regarding claims involving FEHA, PAGA, the California Labor Code, and related employment laws.
• Collaborate with supervising attorneys on case strategy, mediation preparation, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Prepare cases for mediations, arbitrations, and trial proceedings.
• Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and case management.
