Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking a field inspector in Texas to patrol and inspect gas and liquids pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations, and related facilities. You will coordinate with contractors and internal teams to protect assets and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires documenting findings, updating drawings, reporting safety and environmental concerns, and adhering to company policies. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of locating and marking facilities per damage prevention program and One-Call procedures.
• Experience reading blueprints, P&IDs, and diagrams.
• Safe handling practices for flammable gases and high/low pressure systems.
• Familiarity with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, various OS).
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark facilities prior to encroachments and excavation.
• Perform pipeline patrols, population density surveys, leak detection surveys, and inspections.
• Coordinate local damage prevention activities.
• Oversee excavation-related asset protection and compliance with procedures.
• Inspect projects related to excavation near pipelines and repair facilities.
• Complete documentation, as-built drawings, contractor oversight, and reporting to management.
• Represent the company with landowners, officials, and at local meetings.
• Train and supervise company and third-party personnel.
