Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Mid-Senior Pipeline and Facilities Design Engineer to join our Englewood, CO/Billings MT/Casper WY team. You will lead design for pipelines, pump stations, and facilities, coordinating with client leads and project managers to meet scope, schedule, and budget.

Responsibilities include developing PFDs/P&IDs, 30–90% drawings, MAOP analyses, field data collection, and liaison with vendors. Occasional travel and collaboration across offices are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an ABET-accredited engineering program; 5–15+ years of relevant experience.
• FE exam completed or preferred.
• PE licensure preferred or willingness to attain.
• NCEES record preferred or willingness to attain.
• Experience in Midstream Oil & Gas industry is preferred.
• Strong understanding of ASME B31.4, B31.8 and CFR 192/195, NACE, etc.
• Experience coordinating with client stakeholders and offsite team members.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access.
• Willingness to travel for on-site data gathering or meetings.
• Experience with hydraulic and pipe stress modeling; Autodesk software or 3D design platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering support for pipeline, pump station, and terminal/tank projects nationwide.
• Assumes a lead role within a multi-disciplinary project team of consulting engineers.
• Performs duties under general direction of the project lead and communicates with client leads or project manager.
• Reviews and assigns work to subordinate engineers and staff; makes decisions on technical scope, schedule, and cost.
• Develops PFDs, P&IDs, and project design drawings (30%, 60%, 90%, IFB/ IFC).
• Conducts hydraulic calculations, line sizing, MAOP calculations, and pipe material decisions.
• Develops detailed designs for pipelines, compressor/pump stations, and facilities; handles brownfield upgrades.
• Conducts field investigations and gathers data to support design.
• Oversees equipment sizing/specification (pumps, motors, tanks, valves, etc.).
• Lead or participate in internal and client design reviews; prepares scopes of work and bid packages.
• Coordinates procurement activities; reviews equipment specs and RFQ/RFP responses.
• Incorporates compliance and permitting inputs into designs; performs TIC cost estimating.
• Develops project schedules.
