Job summary

Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced Pipeline Engineer to support multiple onshore natural gas and liquids pipeline capital projects in the Houston area.

This hands-on role targets mid-career professionals who can own technical work and coordinate with PMs, contractors, and internal stakeholders. 5–10 years of direct pipeline engineering experience and familiarity with meter stations and 7C projects are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or related field from ABET-accredited program.
• 5–10 years direct pipeline engineering experience.
• Experience supporting pipeline projects from FEED through construction.
• Experience with natural gas pipelines or meter stations.
• Familiar with ASME B31.8 and 49 CFR Parts 192/195.
• Strong writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Project).

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support throughout the lifecycle of onshore pipeline and meter station capital projects.
• Lead and support engineering activities for long-haul pipeline projects, including scopes and design packages.
• Review engineering and construction deliverables for compliance with project requirements.
• Review pipeline drawings, design packages, material selections, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with engineering firms, contractors, PMs, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Manage multiple capital projects with priorities, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Provide technical input on scopes, estimates, schedules, and changes.
• Support pipeline and meter station projects through design to closeout.
• Communicate project status, issues, recommendations, and risks to leadership.
• Assist with permitting, surveying, construction coordination, and other activities.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Pipeline Engineer to support multiple onshore natural gas and liquids pipeline capital projects in the Houston area.

This is a hands-on engineering role for a mid-career professional who can take ownership of technical work, support multiple projects, and work closely with Project Managers, contractors, engineering firms, and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate must have 5–10 years of direct pipeline engineering experience, including long-haul pipeline experience, natural gas experience, onshore pipeline experience, and capital project experience. Experience with natural gas meter stations and 7C projects is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support throughout the lifecycle of onshore pipeline and meter station capital projects, from front-end engineering through detailed design and construction.
• Lead and support engineering activities for long-haul pipeline projects, including scopes, technical requirements, specifications, drawings, and design packages.
• Review engineering and construction deliverables for compliance with project requirements, company standards, and applicable codes.
• Review pipeline drawings, design packages, material selections, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and constructability.
• Coordinate with engineering firms, construction contractors, Project Managers, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Support multiple concurrent capital projects while managing technical priorities, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Provide technical input on project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, material requirements, and engineering changes.
• Support natural gas pipeline and meter station projects through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Communicate project status, technical issues, recommendations, and risks to Project Managers and leadership.
• Assist with permitting, surveying, construction coordination, and other project activities as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5–10 years of direct pipeline engineering experience.
• Experience supporting pipeline projects from front-end engineering through detailed design and construction.
• Experience with natural gas pipelines and/or meter station projects.
• Familiarity with ASME B31.8 and 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195.
• Experience supporting project budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and project planning.
• Strong ability to review engineering drawings, specifications, material selections, and construction documents.
• Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with 7C pipeline projects.
• Natural gas utility or midstream operator experience.
• Oil & gas pipeline or midstream experience.
• EIT certification.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Mechanical or Civil Engineering background.
• Familiarity with surveying methods and survey technology.
