Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Pipelayer in Tucson to install and repair underground pipes for water, sewer, and drainage systems. You will work with metal, PVC, ductile iron, and concrete pipes, following project specs and safety rules.

Responsibilities include trenching prep, aligning pipes with lasers, marking positions, and testing for leaks. Travel and overtime may be required. Training and certifications provided by Garney will be completed as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime.
• Must be willing to complete trainings and certifications by Garney (Rigging/Signaling, Confined Space, OSHA 10).

Responsibilities

• Prepare the work area for trenching and grading.
• Assist equipment operators with pipe placement.
• Direct operators with hand signals and supervise backfill around pipe.
• Set up pipe lasers and transits for alignment.
• Locate and mark underground pipe positions.
• Assemble and install valves and pipe joints.
• Test pipes for leaks and measure/cut pipe.
• Support Garney goals and philosophies.

GARNEY

Pipelayer position is available at Garney. To be considered for this position you must have previous experience with pipe laying. As a Pipelayer, you will assemble, install and repair underground pipes and fittings. This includes, but not limited to, metallic and plastic pipe, ductile iron pipe, steel pipe and concrete pipe for water, sewer and drain work.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Prepare the area in which pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required
• Assist equipment Operators in the placement of pipe
• Direct equipment Operators with hand signals
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools
• Set-up and work with pipe lasers and transits
• Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench
• Assemble and install valves, fitting and pipe composed of metal, PVC, ductile and concrete
• Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement
• Test pipes for leakage. Measures and cuts pipe
• Promote Garney Goals and Philosophies
