Job summary

Garney is seeking a Pipelayer in Nashville, TN. The role requires installing and repairing underground pipes and fittings for water, sewer, and drain work, including various pipe materials. You will direct trenching, assist operators, and ensure proper alignment using pipe lasers and transits.

Travel and overtime are required. Training opportunities include Rigging and Signaling, Confined Space, and OSHA 10 hour certifications to support safe, efficient field operations.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Willing to complete Garney trainings and certifications such as Rigging and Signaling, Confined Space, OSHA 10.
• Willing to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the area for pipe laying by directing trenching and grading.
• Assist equipment operators in placement of pipe and set-up with pipe lasers and transits.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings and pipes including metal, PVC, ductile and concrete.

A Pipelayer position is available at Garney. To be considered for this position you must have previous experience with pipe laying. As a Pipelayer , you will assemble, install and repair underground pipes and fittings. This includes, but not limited to, metallic and plastic pipe, ductile iron pipe, steel pipe and concrete pipe for water, sewer and drain work.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Prepare the area in which pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required
• Assist equipment Operators in the placement of pipe
• Direct equipment Operators with hand signals
• Backfill around pipe using hand toolsSet-up and work with pipe lasers and transits
• Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench
• Assemble and install valves, fitting and pipe composed of metal, PVC, ductile and concrete
• Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement
• Test pipes for leakage. Measures and cuts pipe
• Promote Garney Goals and Philosophies
