Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services in Wisconsin is seeking an entry-level pipefitter helper to assist journeyman pipefitters with laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing and maintaining piping systems and related equipment.

The role requires following instructions, working under supervision, and adhering to safety rules; responsibilities include cutting, threading, bending pipe, installing supports, testing for leaks, and supporting maintenance of HVAC systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 0–2 years in the field.
• Works under immediate supervision.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a safe, timely, efficient manner.
• Typically reports to a Foreman or supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Assist journeyman pipefitters in laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing and maintaining piping systems.
• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials per job specifications.
• Inspects worksite for obstructions and plans installation sequence.
• Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, or cutting tools.
• Threads pipe using threading machine and bends pipe as needed.
• Mounts pipe hangers and brackets to support piping.
• Assembles and installs pipes and fittings with appropriate joints.
• Test piping systems for leaks and observe gauges.
• Observe safety rules and perform other duties as required.
