Job Description

An Industrial Pipefitter will assemble, layout, install, and maintain pipe systems on steam, fluid, or gas systems. The pipe systems may include, but are not limited to, pipes, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangars, and angles. Pipe fitters may work in all parts of construction or maintenance sites, including buildings, outside, and inside structures such as tanks or boilers. The work may also include working in underground areas (excavations) and at heights of up to 300 ft.

Qualification Highlights

Position Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope, locations, quantities, and sizes of materials.
• Identify tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and implement precautions.
• Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
• Install valves, hangers, supports, flanges according to plans and specifications.
• Perform tests to ensure quality of pipes and systems.
• Hoist loads using rigging equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to lead in erection of steel, fabrication, grid layout, rigging.
• Ability to perform all craft trade duties.
• Ability to read and understand IFC drawings, craft specs, and details.
• Knowledge of rigging, connection, fabrication, and tools.

• Good problem-solving, manual dexterity, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Former Zachry Employee.
• NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter.
