Job Description

1. Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
2. Inspect worksites to identify obstructions and ensure structural integrity when drilling or excavating.
3. Plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other construction activities.
4. Assemble and install various metal and non-metal pipes and fittings, including brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.
5. Join piping using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
6. Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
7. Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, controls, and piping.
8. Test piping systems for leaks by pressurizing and monitoring gauges.
9. Weld components as required.

Requirements

1. Experience with pipefitting in the Mechanical and HVAC industries.
2. Valid Driver’s License.
3. Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy.
4. Familiarity with cutting, bending, and welding tools and techniques.
5. Knowledge of systems being installed, with the ability to interpret plans and specifications, and visualize objects in three dimensions.
6. Completion of an apprenticeship or four years of practical training in related system installation and tool usage.
