Summary
This position is located in the Facility Management Department of the Facility Support Directorate at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) in North Chicago, Illinois. The FHCC is a system of facilities providing medical and dental services to U.S. Military Veterans, Recruits, Active Duty, and eligible beneficiaries.

Duties May Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Layout pipe, thread, rough-in and finish bathroom and kitchen installations;
• Conduct minor welding repairs and fabrication using oxygen, acetylene, arc welding, and pipe welding;
• Inspect, adjust, clean, and repair plumbing fixtures and systems, steam equipment, heating and water systems, waste lines, kitchen and laundry equipment, air compressors, medical compressed air systems, vacuum systems, oxygen systems, and natural gas distribution systems;
• Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturers' specifications for installation and repair;
• Perform safety and preventive maintenance inspections in accordance with VA regulations and national codes;
• Interpret and apply building plans and blueprints to layout angles, arcs, and circles;
• Utilize tools such as sliding squares, measuring tapes, dividers, and chalk lines;
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 07:00 am - 3:30 pm

Physical Requirements: May handle weights up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier loads. Requires physical exertion including pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, walking, climbing, stooping, working in various environmental conditions, and in awkward positions.
