We are currently seeking a Heavy Construction Pipe Layer to join our team.

The Heavy Construction Pipe Layer will primarily perform excavation and pipe installation tasks essential for completing underground utility systems, including sanitary and storm sewers and watermain construction.

This position is full-time and seasonal, typically working Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday work and overtime available. Job sites are mainly located in Northern Michigan, and overnight travel is not usually required.

• Work as part of a team to complete projects, prioritizing safety, then quality, then productivity
• Operate small power tools or hand tools such as saws, hand compactors, and impact wrenches
• Work with and set up pipe lasers, understanding slope and grade
• Coordinate with equipment operators to create safe excavation trenches and prevent damage to existing utilities
• Follow OSHA trench safety rules
• Shovel, grade, set, and bed various types of pipe including concrete, PVC, HDPE, ductile iron, and others
• Understand basic lifting and rigging methods

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience with pipe installation in heavy construction is preferred
• Maintain a respectful and positive attitude
• Work effectively in various outdoor weather conditions
• Perform and understand basic math related to construction
• Be a team player and willing to learn
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Pass a pre-employment physical and drug test
• Have a strong work ethic, dependability, and consistency
