Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled welder (pipe/welding) to lay out, fit and weld fabricated components.

You will join parts using TIG and stick welding, follow blueprints, and ensure weld quality in a range of positions while maintaining safety standards across job sites in the Southeast and central United States. The ideal candidate is at least 18, able to pass weld tests, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions; training and safety culture are

Qualifications

• Must be able to TIG and Stick weld on stainless and/or carbon.
• Pass required weld tests, vary by site.
• Must be willing to work outside craft and in various environments.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to welding.
• Weld components of piping systems, plates, tubes or structural shapes.
• Set welding parameters and adjust equipment for amperage, voltage and polarity.
• Inspect welds for bead size and conformance to specs.
• Operate in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean work area.
