Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. in Bastrop, TX, seeks an experienced welder to lay out, fit, and weld fabricated components into structural forms.

You will work safely and accurately to produce high-quality welds on piping systems, plate, pipe, and structural shapes. You must read layouts and blueprints, select processes, and complete welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions, following procedures and supervisor directions.

Qualifications

• Must be able to TIG and stick weld on stainless and/or carbon.
• Must pass required weld tests.
• Must wear safety gear and communicate clearly with supervisors.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure to ensure conformance with specs.
• Weld components per layout, blueprints, or welding procedures using various processes.
• Select and apply electrodes, adjust amperage/voltage, and start power supply.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions and inspect bead quality.
