Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled welder to lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components for structural forms. You will work safely and efficiently to produce high-quality welds across multiple positions and materials.

You must pass site weld tests, wear required PPE, and read blueprints and procedures. The role involves outdoor work, potential weekend shifts, and physical demands in a construction environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to TIG and stick weld on stainless and/or carbon, pipe size and material vary by site.
• Must pass required weld tests as determined by site.
• Must be willing to work outside craft and in varied environments.
• Must wear safety gear and follow site safety rules.
• Read and communicate clearly with supervisor and co-workers.
• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts before welding.
• Weld components using various welding processes per procedures and instructions.
• Prepare electrodes, adjust amperage/voltage, and strike arc safely.
• Guide welding tool along weld lines to achieve specified depth and bead quality.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Inspect welds for bead size and conformance to specs.
• Maintain cleanliness of weld joint and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Set up equipment and ensure safety and project rules are followed.
