Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. seeks skilled pipe welders to lay out, fit, and weld fabricated components to form structural assemblies. This role requires precise welding in various positions with emphasis on safety and quality.

You will read blueprints, set up welds, and inspect completed work. The position is based in Sumter, SC, with outdoor and industrial site work across the Southeast.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Experience with TIG and stick welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Commitment to safety practices and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding.
• Weld components per layout, blueprints, or procedures using electric arc processes.
• Inspect welds for size, bead quality, and conformance to specs.
• Prepare joints and surfaces; clean or degrease weld areas as needed.
• Operate welding equipment and adjust settings (amperage, voltage, polarity).
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
