Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled welder to lay out, fit, and weld fabricated components, ensuring high quality under diverse conditions.

The role requires strong TIG and stick welding capabilities and a reliable approach to reading blueprints and meeting exact specifications. Workers will operate with various welding processes, manage electrodes, and perform bead inspection in multiple positions.

Qualifications

• Must be able to TIG and stick weld on stainless and/or carbon materials as site demands.
• Must pass required weld tests (varies per site).
• Must be willing to work outside craft and in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Weld components using electric arc-welding equipment per procedures or instructions.
• Obtain specified electrodes and manage welding gun setup (amperage, voltage, polarity, pulse).
• Strike arc to deposit metal and join edges; guide electrode to form fusion and bead.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions; inspect bead size and weld quality.
• May prepare broken parts for welding, clean or degrease weld joints, and repair as needed.
• May cut metal plates or shapes and inspect fit before welding.
