Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. seeks a skilled welder to lay out, fit, and weld fabricated components to assemble structural forms. Work will be performed safely and efficiently, following blueprints and procedures to achieve high quality joints.

You will weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions, inspect welds, and use TIG, stick, and other processes with a range of tools. Candidates must pass weld tests, be 18+, and prepared for outdoor work and varying site conditions.

Qualifications

• Must have welding experience and ability to TIG and stick weld on stainless and/or carbon.
• Must pass required weld tests (varies per site).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor and coworkers.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret welding diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Weld together metal components using electric arc-welding equipment.
• Operate welding processes and adjust settings per procedures and supervisor directions.
• Inspect welds for bead size and specifications; ensure quality and safety compliance.
• May prepare broken parts for welding and clean or degrease weld joints.
