Job summary

The Park District of Highland Park is seeking a part-time Pickleball Teaching Professional to instruct all levels and classes at the Club Pickle & Padel. You will lead private and group lessons, run clinics, and support special events.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, IPTPA Level 1 preferred, CPR/AED, and excellent customer service. The role requires on-site activity in our indoor facility with competitive hourly pay of $30–$40.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate or equivalent.
• IPTPA Level 1 Certification preferred.
• CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to teach all levels of pickleball.

Responsibilities

• Teach private and group lessons as assigned.
• Communicate and demonstrate proper techniques (grip, stroke, serve, footwork, rules).
• Perform administrative tasks (attendance, messages, correspondence).
• Arrive punctually and ensure lessons are completed and cleaned up.
• Assist with summer camp programming and lesson planning.
• Place students in correct class levels based on skill.
• Submit timesheet daily for private/group/drop-in hours.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
• Recruit participants for programming and provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain safety and report hazards; follow Park District policies.

Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Head Pickleball Professional, the Pickleball Teaching Professional is responsible for instruction for all areas of the pickleball program, including all classes, levels, training, special events, tournaments as well as performing assigned administrative duties for Club Pickle & Padel, a new facility of the Park District of Highland Park.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have supervisory responsibilities.Essential Job DutiesTeach private and group lessons as assigned in accordance with Park District policies.Effectively communicate and demonstrate proper techniques, such as grip, stroke production, serve, footwork and rules.Conduct instruction in accordance with the Club’s standardized methods and strategies.Perform necessary administrative tasks, such as attendance taking, returning messages, and general correspondence with patrons and co-workers.Discretely work through differences with fellow teaching professionals so as not to create distractions on the court or in front of clientele.Arrive in time to start lessons punctually and allow enough time to fully complete the lesson and cleanup as scheduled.Assist with summer camp programming.Assist with the planning and implementation of lesson pickleball programs, classes, levels, training, tournaments and special events.Manage the proper placement of students in class levels based on skill level.Complete timesheet daily by accurately inputting privates/groups/drop-in and administrative hours.Participate and contribute to periodic staff meetings and professional development training.Recruit participants for programmingKeep administrative staff apprised of any key issues, class assignment changes, and other significant developments in a timely fashion.Solicit feedback and actively listen to others.Make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies.Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.Conduct all work in a safe manner, including using personal protective equipment and safety devices as required. Identify and report any safety hazards.Attend all Park District required trainings.Performs other duties as assigned.Education and Experience:Minimum high school graduate or equivalent. Certification with the International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association “Level 1” Certification or similar preferred. Minimum of 1 year teaching experience with a variety of ability levels of pickleball.Required Skills/Abilities:Certification with International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) preferred.Valid IL Driver's LicenseAmerican Red Cross CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to teach all levels of pickleball.Ability to communicate and maintain patience in a teaching setting.Wage Range: $30.00 - $40.00 per hourClassification: Part-Time, non-exemptPhysical Requirements:The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
