Job summary

Wood Dale Park District is seeking a part-time Pickleball Instructor to teach pickleball and run on-site activities at the Recreation Complex and district facilities in Wood Dale, IL. Schedule includes weekday evenings and weekend sessions with pay at $20.00 per hour, determined with the Recreation Supervisor.

Responsibilities include conducting clinics, managing drills, maintaining safety, and communicating with participants and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have pickleball teaching experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Position Summary: The Pickleball Instructor is a part-time position responsible for teaching pickleball to program participants and implementation of on-site activities and instruction.

Work Location: Recreation Complex (111 Foster Ave) and various district parks and facilities

Hours & Compensation - Rate of pay $20.00 per hour. Days and hours will vary based on instructor availability and patron demand. The schedule will be determined collaboratively by the instructor and the Supervisor. We anticipate initially offering classes on weekday evenings and weekend mornings or afternoons, with flexibility to adjust the schedule as needed.

Supervision

Supervisor: Recreation Supervisor

Essential Job Functions

• Implement pickleball activities and provide instruction to participants regarding specific activities.
• Demonstrate and support park district customer service standards.
• Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and staff regarding rule infractions, questions, and concerns.
• Lead activities and practice active supervision of participants at all times.
• Clinics, camps, lessons and drills involving the sport must be conducted with an emphasis on safety first and fun second.
• Must be able to successfully implement and maintain order during a wide range of drills and games.
• Communicate any accidents, safety concerns, maintenance issues, complaints, etc. to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Complete accident/incident forms as needed for submission to Recreation Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Necessary equipment should be set up and available prior to start of class and returned to storage area post-class.
• Class needs to be started and completed per time allocated.
• Notify Recreation Supervisor when supplies need to be ordered or restocked.
• Administer first aid as necessary.
• Maintain a clean and neat facility upon completion of each class.
• Follow district and departmental safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures, and ordinances.
• Distribute written communication to program participants as needed.
• Carry out any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have pickleball teaching experience
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 6 months

Knowledge

• Pickleball rules and regulations for all types of play
• Singles, doubles, rally scoring, etc.
• Teaching multiple age groups and skill levels
• Indoor vs Outdoor teaching techniques (preferred but not required)

Ability to

• Teach and play pickleball
• Ability to be patient and courteous
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
