Job summary

Champaign Park District is seeking a part-time Pickleball Instructor to lead lessons for children and adults at Leonhard Recreation Center. The role involves planning engaging instruction, maintaining records, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment on a flexible schedule.

Applicants should be passionate about pickleball, capable of teaching all ages and skill levels, and comfortable working evenings and weekends within a supportive team. Training and certifications are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching pickleball to a variety of ages and skill levels.
• Strong verbal and written communication with participants, parents, and staff.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety policies.
• Ability to work independently while staying accountable to a supervisor.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Teach pickleball lessons to children and adults at indoor and outdoor locations.
• Plan and deliver age- and skill-appropriate instruction.
• Maintain attendance and lesson records.
• Ensure a safe learning environment by following safety policies.
• Inspect equipment before and after lessons and report issues.
• Communicate with Sports Coordinator about programs and participants.
• Promote pickleball programs and assist with activities as needed.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions.

Salary Range: $16.75 - $30.25 Hourly

About the Job

Do you love pickleball and enjoy helping others learn and grow? The Pickleball Instructor plays a key role in delivering fun, safe, and engaging pickleball programs for both children and adults. In this role, you’ll lead instructional lessons, support daily program operations, and create a welcoming environment that keeps participants coming back to the court.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Teach pickleball lessons to children and adults at assigned indoor and outdoor locations
• Plan and deliver age- and skill-appropriate instruction
• Maintain accurate attendance and lesson records
• Ensure a safe learning environment by following all Park District safety policies
• Inspect equipment before and after lessons and report needs or concerns
• Communicate regularly with the Sports Coordinator regarding programs and participants
• Promote pickleball programs and assist with other pickleball activities as needed
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions
• Uphold Park District policies, professionalism, and confidentiality standards
