Old Dominion Freight Line is currently seeking a Pick up & Delivery Supervisor to join our OD Family Culture. The P & D Supervisor is responsible for supervising drivers and coordinating the timely pickup and delivery of shipments in a fast-paced environment within the local operation to meet department/shift and service center standards for safety, quality, efficiency, cost, service, and delivery. The supervisor must complete various company and government forms used in freight movement, such as shipping orders, city stripping manifests, freight bills, inter-terminal movement forms (ITMs), and exception forms. They will use OD’s proprietary technology system to monitor shipment locations and communicate continuously with drivers, associates, customers, and team members via verbal communication and computer systems.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and evaluate the safety of employees and drivers daily.
• Manage, assign, and supervise pickups and deliveries, ensuring proper utilization of personnel and equipment while meeting company and customer expectations.
• Manage driver work schedules and time-off requests.
• Collaborate with Operations Managers and Service Center Managers to meet business objectives.
• Provide analyses and suggestions for operational improvements.
• Complete freight movement forms such as shipping manifests, freight bills, ITMs, and exception forms.
• Utilize OD’s technology systems to monitor freight movement and communicate with drivers and team members.
• Provide feedback to employees on productivity metrics and handle disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with safety and transportation regulations, including OSHA and DOT standards.
• Schedule pickups and deliveries to optimize freight arrivals and departures.
• Operate internal freight monitoring systems such as AS400, DYMS, and ERSI.
• Ensure shipments are properly loaded and transported to destination at initial pickup when practical.
• Conduct shift meetings and communicate schedules effectively.
• Inspect working conditions of tools and equipment, addressing any issues.
• Ensure compliance with company and government regulations.
• Work scheduled shifts and be available for additional shifts as needed.
• Interact with customers via phone and email.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of operational experience, preferably in transportation.
• Supervisory experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS, and BLU systems.
• Understanding of DOT regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, with AM/PM shifts. Work days and shifts are subject to change based on business needs.
