Job summary

Qavvik seeks a Pilot-in-Command in Kotzebue, Alaska, to lead flight operations with uncompromising safety and regulatory compliance. You will plan and execute flights, supervise crew, and ensure all procedures are followed, with focus on weight, balance, and documentation.

Responsibilities include pre-flight planning, cargo handling, and maintaining logs, while adhering to company SOPs and FARs. Travel to remote locations is required as part of rotations.

Qualifications

  • Commercial pilot certificate with appropriate category and class ratings and an Instrument rating.
  • Minimum 2,500 hours of flight time, including 500 hours cross-country, 500 hours night, and 500 hours IFR.
  • At least 1 year of experience flying in western or Bush Alaska.
  • Thorough understanding of the operations manual and company procedures.
  • Valid aviation medical certificate.
  • Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Successful completion of yearly simulator training.
  • One year training agreement.
  • Meets FAR Part 243 and 135.297 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out duties per Operations Manual and adhere to procedures.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient conduct of the flight.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attire.
  • Flight Planning and Information: plan flight, gather route, weather, NOTAMS, loads.
  • Review operational procedures and special instructions.
  • Prepare or delegate flight paperwork and risk assessment forms.
  • Pre-Flight Checks and Documentation: ensure paperwork on board and maintenance sign-offs.
  • Confirm inspections are current and no pending ADs.
  • Weight and Balance: fueling and de-icing as required; oversee cargo loading.
  • Flight and Maintenance Logs: keep accurate records.
  • Passenger and Cargo Handling: ensure proper deplaning and unloading.
