Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time Music/Arts Program Coordinator to plan and teach music theory, performance and related activities for corps and community members.

You will lead weekly lessons, plan recitals, support campers and coordinate summer programs while promoting the mission and values of The Salvation Army.

Strong teamwork, organization and a passion for youth and adults through music are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
  • A minimum of two years’ music experience working with children/adults.
  • Proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player, self-starter, and follow through with assignments.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility in changing job situations/priorities.
  • Commitment to support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Lead music and arts programs; plan weekly music classes and implement the curriculum.
  • Plan and attend recitals; prep corps music programs to participate in year-end concert.
  • Encourage participants to develop talents and self-esteem through music.
  • Assist with ensuring music performances heighten awareness of The Salvation Army's mission.
  • Encourage participation in summer camps and planning of divisional music camps.
  • All other duties as assigned.
