Job summary

Prince William Water is seeking a PI System Specialist to administer, configure, and maintain the OSI PI System (AVEVA) and its interfaces with SCADA, PLCs, and BI platforms. The role focuses on data accuracy, reliability, and availability across the full source-to-report pipeline, with a hybrid work arrangement combining on-site and remote work as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data/Information Systems, or a closely related field.
• At least four years of progressively responsible experience administering, configuring, or developing on the OSI PI System (AVEVA PI System) or a comparable data historian, including integration with reporting or BI systems.
• Or a combination of education and experience as described above.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license consistent with Prince William Water policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Administer, secure, and maintain the PI System ecosystem (PI Data Archive, AF, Vision, Integrator).
• Configure PI interfaces for SCADA, PLCs, and smart instruments; ensure data quality and troubleshoot end-to-end pipeline issues.
• Provide technical direction to contractors integrating SCADA and instrumentation with PI.
• Design and maintain PI AF models, hierarchies, attributes, analytics, and event frames for operational intelligence.
• Develop data flows from PI to downstream systems using PI Integrator, SQL, and BI tools.
• Create PI Vision dashboards, trends, and reports with accurate operational data visuals.
• Collaborate with SCADA, DBAs, operations, and reporting staff to ensure data accuracy across systems.
• Support regulatory reporting needs, including data preparation for DMRs.
• Provide training and on-call support on PI tools, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
• Maintain complete system documentation including data flow diagrams and tag mappings.
• Provide on-call support for emergency PI system issues and off-hours service calls.
• May be deemed essential at any time; perform other duties as assigned.
